Gary Hird - Technical Strategy Manager, John Lewis Partnership Gary is responsible for making sure that JLP has the right strategy for its IT infrastructure and that this is fully aligned with business strategy. His team identify and track emerging technologies and assess their likely impact on the Partnership, maintaining a "roadmap" of developments in each technology area over the next three to five years, and progressing initiatives from identification of candidate technologies through to trials and successful delivery. Martin Kelmanson - Head of ICTS Division, BMA Martin is currently the Head of the ICTS Division at the British Medical Association based in London. In an IT career spanning nearly 40 years Martin has held senior management positions in the UK, France and the USA in the areas of SW Engineering, Electronic Publishing, Auditing and Service Delivery Management. He has worked in the private and public sectors. He is a Member of the British Computer Society and Chartered Management Institute. He is currently living in Sussex. Phil Molyneux - Head of ICT Services, University of Cumbria Phil has worked in a variety of technical and managerial roles for a number of international manufacturing companies including major computer manufacturers and, most recently, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). Phil moved into the Higher Education sector in 2005 and is proud to have been able to lead the projects which have built the ICT infrastructure for the newly created University of Cumbria. This brand new institution has "sustainability" as one of its key goals and this has been reflected in the selection of virtual server and storage architectures for ICT. |

Tim Perry - Divisional Director Global Infrastructure Shared Services - Europe, Sony Europe Tim has been with Sony Europe for 9 years. In his capacity as Divisional Director for Global Infrastructure Shared Services - Europe, Tim is responsible for ensuring that the European Data Centre/s, Wide Area Network and End User Services (client desktop and Helpdesk support) are fully operational 24x7 in support of Sony Electronics' European Business Operations. This team works very closely with all of the Sony Information Systems Europe sub teams as it provides a central role in provisioning computing, network facilities and capacity to support pan-European applications and associated infrastructure. Tim has been in the IT industry for approaching 28 years. Prior to joining Sony Europe, Tim spent 15 years with IBM in a variety of technical and service management roles. Before that Tim started his career in IT working in the data processing department of an insurance company. |

Paul Tonks - Interim Head of Business Transformation, Peterborough City Council Having worked for 15 years in local government Paul joined Kendric Ash, a performance management consultancy as Services Director before joining Civica plc initially as Public Services Director becoming Managing Director in 2004. In 2006 Paul created Virtus Services to push forward his work with the public sector to drive efficiency savings and utilise his commercial experience in the public realm. Paul has worked at Head of Service and Strategic Director level with Local and Central Government in areas such as Education, Environment, Finance, Housing, Cultural and Community Services. He has been responsible for the successful development of major city and town centre infrastructure and economic development projects and has worked extensively in business efficiency and performance management across a range of Council services. He is currently Head of Business Transformation at Peterborough City Council delivering the Council's 3 year £26 million efficiency programme. |

Steve Foreman - Chief Technology Officer, Met Office A Maths graduate, Steve joined the Met Office as a research scientist working on improving the techniques used to create weather forecasts -and in doing so used one of the world's first supercomputers. After a short period actually forecasting the weather, Steve returned to research to work in climate modelling, specialising in the interaction between the atmosphere and ocean. Building on the Met Office's strength in transferring skills between weather forecasting and climate modelling, Steve then introduced the Met Office's first ocean forecasting system. Moving from using IT to providing it, Steve is now responsible for the Met Office IT strategy, governance and information management IT systems. Reflecting the international dependencies of weather forecasting, Steve sits on several international committees that are planning the future of weather forecasting and the IT to support it. |
